Outlook vs. Uplook

Inspired by a sermon by Steve Lawson…

Paul’s situation in Rome, in prison, chained between Praetorian guards, had an OUTLOOK that was bleak, from a worldly perspective.

However, by the grace of God, the apostle’s UPLOOK could not have been better!

2Co 4:7-9 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellency of the power may be of God, and not of us. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed…

Rom 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

One Response to Outlook vs. Uplook

  1. Jere says:

So, here I am, this rough and ruddy earthen pot, but with a priceless treasure inside, the Spirit of God Almighty. Why am I so often distracted by prettifying the old pot, trying to shine it up, when the real goal is to reflect the treasure inside, not distract from it. It is the nature of man to cling ever tighter to the pot, fighting the phobia of letting go, but let go we must, else we miss the blessing of experiencing the contrast between the depravity of man and the Holy Righteousness of Jehovah. Oh, the Joy of that revelation.
