1 Pet. 3:15 – But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts, and always be ready to give a answer to everyone who asks you a reason for the hope that is in you, with meekness and fear.”
This verse has always intrigued me. As Peter encourages us to be ready to give an answer (ἀπολογία – apologia, a reasoned defense), to me that presupposes that a question has been asked. For me, this raises another question: “Why are they asking me about my hope?”
Our response to the vagaries of life (challenges, trials, even blessings) should demonstrate the distinction that belonging to Christ brings. We should “live a life that demands explanation.” Well, DO we?
