The Shadow debuted on July 31, 1930, as the mysterious narrator of the Street and Smith radio program Detective Story Hour. The introduction from The Shadow radio program was “Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow knows!” Originally spoken by Frank Readick Jr., the words were accompanied by an ominous laugh and a musical theme.
“Shadow” is a theme for the Christian as well. Consider the following samples:
Psa 17:8 Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me under the shadow of thy wings,
Psa 36:7 How excellent is thy lovingkindness, O God! therefore the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings.
Psa 63:7 Because thou hast been my help, therefore in the shadow of thy wings will I rejoice.
Psa 91:1 He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
And our Shadow truly knows what evil lurks in our hearts!
Heb. 4:13 Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in His sight: but all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.
Rom. 5:8 But God commends His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us.
Praise God for our Shadow!
